„MOSELEY FLOAT - ON-AIR (PATENT) PNEUMATIC UPHOLSTERY is lighter and cleaner than ordinary stuffing-it keeps its shape longer and gives complete protection from all road vibration. FLOAT-ON-AIR can be fitted by any Body-Builder - or existing seats converted”
Es durften natürlich auch nicht die Empfehlungen zufriedener Kunden – darunter sogar Rolls-Royce Fahrer - fehlen, die den Sitzkomfort anscheinend sehr zu schätzen wussten:
„Mr. LIONEL RAPSON writes: "Even in a beautifully sprung car your Float-on-Air Cushions make a tremendous difference to the comfort of the driver and passengers."“
„Mr. S. F. EDGE writes: "The Moseley 'Float-on-Air Cushions fitted to my 20 h.p. Rolls Royce are thoroughly satisfactory."“
„What the Hon. Mrs. Victor Bruce thinks of "Float-on-Air" - Her article on the Morris Minor in The Morris Owner states:"I don't think, for instance, that I have ever sat in a more comfortable driving seat, and that is a considered opinion. Pneumatic leather upholstery and deep, long-backed separate bucket seats seem to take you in a kindly embrace, permit you to take up the exact, microscopically best position for the comfortable operation of wheel, pedals and controls, and gently to hold you there. I was really quite considerably impressed with this particular feature, for the fact that the seat proved just as comfortable for my husband, who is as much over as I am under what one might call average height regardless of sex, seems to suggest adjustability of an order of efficiency that I have never encountered before."LOW COST OF CONVERSION EACH SEAT CUSHION […] Every model of every car can be converted to "Float-on-Air" at prices proportionate to size of seat, using the existing upholstery with-out alterations in shape, size or material.”4, 5
Der Austin Seven – reisen wie auf Wolken
Im Text heißt es:
„The essence of comfort with “Moseley Float-on-Air" upholstery: is low pressure—to blow up the cushions at all hard is to destroy their powers of absorbing vibration. The seat should be quite soft to the touch, the hand pressed on the sur- face sinking well in. If the seats do not give perfect results release air from the valve, as the usual fault is over inflation. The butt ended portion running round the sides and front of each interior is separately inflated and should be moderately well blown up. The centre portion of each interior is also separately inflated, and the pressure should be such that the base of the seat can be felt when pressed with the closed fist. This gives the ideal pressure and support when sat upon. To adjust the air pressure open the flap at the rear of the cushion, exposing the valves. The valve at the side inflates the “butt ended portion” above referred to ; the other valve (or valves in the rear cushion) inflates the centre section. Draw gently on the tabs till the rubber valve protrudes about one inch, do not pull hard otherwise the valve may be damaged. Roll back the rubber ring towards the cushion when the plug can be readily removed from the tube. Blow with the mouth or release air as required. Moisten the plug and reinsert as far as it will go, roll ring back until it engages in the depression caused by slot in plug. Push back the valve till the cap is flush with the surface and refasten the flap.”6, 7
„Pneumatic upholstery and the new Seven Saloon - The comfort of pneumatic upholstery must now be regarded as an accepted improvement in the construction of motor cars, and on the 1931 model of the Austin Seven this form of upholstery has been adopted. The great advantage of the "Float-on-Air" pressure air cushion is that the superimposed weight is spread over the whole cushion, whereas, in the case of a spring cushion, it is the middle springs which take all the weight and which, consequently, lose their resiliency. This has been proved in actual road tests, and will be clearly brought home to anyone who occasionally suffers from fatigue, stiffness or headache, after long runs in a car. The secret of "Float-on-Air" superiority lies in its tubular construction, a system fully covered by a master patent, which enables a very low air-pressure to give complete support with a thick-ness of about four inches. "Float-on-Air" seat looks just like the old-fashioned upholstery of stuffing and springs, but it has a softness that no springs can give. You sit, as it were, into the cushion, not on it. Vibration and shocks are absorbed without rebound and its capacity to absorb is unaffected by use.The illustration shown here gives the practical features of the cushion. A flap is provided at the back of each cushion which gives access to the rubber interiors of which there are two in the back seat and one in each bucket seat. The valve is quite plainly shown sunk into the container by means of the Moseley Patent Introverting Tube. Should more air be required, the valve is drawn out by the tapes, the ring is rolled down the neck and the plug removed. Pull the valve out gently, not more than one inch of the neck being exposed, and do not blow the cushion up too hard, otherwise most of the advantages of a pneumatic seat are lost.“8, 9
